The Go! Team will treat your eyes and ears in Plug this Thursday. If you have heard of this 2005 Mercury Prize nominee slapped with the loving John Peel stamp of approval then you may put your feet up.For the Troglodytes amongst you who have never heard of The Go! Team they are best described through the medium of a Venn Diagram.
So sit down and draw lots of circles each representing either Funk, Hip Hop, Indie, Pop, police show themes, playground chants or lots of hand claps. Then sprinkle glitter to represent the influence of Sonic Youth and Public Enemy where they all overlap and you’re left with a very pretty mess. But this exercise will gets you close to imagining the sound of this Brighton based sestet.
If you are unconvinced by sparkles and squiggles then how does battles between the two drummers in the band and a lead singer called Ninja grab you.
You don’t get much cooler than The Go! Team my friend.
Now that are going to purchase a ticket you will shall be rewarded with happiness and an uncontrollable urge to bust your best moves out like Helicopters, Head-spins and the classic going shopping at what is to be a frikin sweet gig. You also get the Screaming Tea Party and local band Paddy Orange thrown in, who are both pretty darn good.
