Sheffield On Cue For Snooker Fans

888.com World Snooker Championship

This year’s 888.com World Snooker Championship gives fans the chance to enjoy the tournament up close through Cue Zone, an interactive learning experience.
Cue Zone, housed in Tudor Square next to the Crucible, is a haven to snooker fans of all ages who can learn about the sport and even play against a pro.

Inside, visitors are greeted with the sight of snooker’s biggest trophies including the famous 888.com trophy, the BBC Pot Black Cup and the UK Championship trophy.

The exhibition features different coloured zones that showcase information on snooker related topics including classic Crucible heroes, snooker heritage and snooker science.

Fans can also see how a championship table is made - from the legs to the cloth, take a look at old snooker cues and balls and even play snooker on the provided games consoles.

A highlight of the experience is the opportunity to play against a snooker pro on a championship table identical to those used by this year’s Crucible contenders.

Cue Zone organisers have even included lighting and seats to make the player feel as if they are competing in the Crucible itself!

Ivan Beggs, Cue Zone Event Manager, said: “It’s an informative and interactive experience for the public to show them what we do and get them interested in the game.

“We’re becoming very popular and improving every year by putting new information up in all the zones.”

Cue Zone has already proved extremely popular with fans, attracting over 2,000 visitors on the opening day alone.

If you would like to experience Cue Zone it’s located next to the Crucible and admission is free.
