Lust.Pride.Greed.Wrath.Envy.Gluttoney.Sloth. On May 1st at DQ, these seven deadly sins were showcased in truly sensational style at a fashion show for Sheffield designers and stylists, with contributions going to HIV charity Shield. After a music set of fine electro and indie tunes, the show kicked off with some amazing pieces from “Syd and Mallory”. The shimmering bikinis, teamed with bold jewellery perfectly fitted with the current metallic trend; and with the models having the most gorgeous, “to die for” bodies certainly helped wow the audience! After a few classic waisted dresses, the next designs on the catwalk were from the folk inspired brand “Alice takes a trip…” A mixture of neon hair, sailor tattoos, contrasting with cute milkmaid style mini dresses –cool and clashing, certainly some of the most eyecatching designs seen that night.
Section Two started with one of my favourites, “Gash”. There was a combination of beautiful vintage and oriental themed sleepwear and underwear, and of course the sexy Gash styled basques and corsets we all know and love! There was even some nipple tassles (worn by an amazingly brave girl) and whips on display. Next up was “Each to their Own” focusing on classic tailoring. Pencil skirts, waisted blouses, all cool wearable pieces that would sex and style up any office wardrobe! “S&M” on the catwalk included a range of floral print summer dresses, and some fabulous evening dresses too.

Section Three began with “ Exile-Clothing with a Unique Vibe” with pieces from designers like Soo Lee (always the best dresses in
Ark!) These were real one-off pieces based on smock and tunic styles. Following this was “Suivez-moi” another memorable set of designs. A definite eighties vibe was going on, with cool slogan tees, and hotpants. There were also some very now futuristic style mini dresses, waist belts, and asymmetric hem lines. Last but not least was “Circus”. Theatre style dresses, baroque prints, and also cute camis and sleepwear - complete with eye masks!

All in all, the show was fantastic. But it wasn’t just the clothes that we were watching, the models were equally (if not more) stunning as they confidently strutted their stuff on the catwalk, adding glamour and character. Compliments also have to go to the backstage crew and set designers- all looked slick and professional, adding to the vibe of the evening. To finish, the after party produced performances from the Alvarez Kings and Screaming Mimis as well as a DJ set from Ralph the undeniably cool Razor Stiletto DJ.

Fashion, music, dancing, models, basques, guitars, partying …bless me father for I have sinned!
