Wigs and Warpaint - the trendiest place in Sheffield?

Struggling to beat the post exam blues? Need a pick me up before facing those smug loved up couples come Valentine’s Day? Look no further fashionistas as Wigsandwarpaint is open for your pampering pleasures, and boy do they know how to make a girl feel good.

I first noticed this uber trendy salon following their work in a local fashion show. You have to understand readers that I’m not the type of girl to trust just anyone with my locks, finding a perfect salon is like finding the perfect pair of jeans, a fun yet ultimately futile task…but after falling in love with the models’ fabulous buffonts and striking make up I knew Wigs and Warpaint was worth the risk.

The salon is quite simply the trendiest thing I have ever seen in Sheffield. From the Biba wall decorations to the Banksy books scattered across the tables, it is exactly what I’ve been searching for all these years…stylists who understand my style.

I can always measure the merits of a salon by the care put into the consultation, and at Wigs and Warpaint you definitely are made to feel looked after. My stylist Claire, who is also one of the salon owners, gave me a consultation based upon my face shape, colouring and hair condition, as well as fully informing me as to what products they would be using on my hair. As I was going for the full restyle I found this to be extremely reassuring and so was completely ready to hand over my trust and tresses to the professionals…so much so in fact that whilst I went in only with the intention of having a new cut, I also came out with a totally new hair colour!

I have to admit I was slightly dubious when it was suggested I go from blonde to brunette, I’ve been rocking the Kate Moss groupie chic look for the past 3 years however I absolutely am 100% smitten with my new colour. Whilst the combination (mink brown + ice blonde + smudged pink) sounds more complicated than my mates’ economic lectures the end result is gorgeous.

So if you feel like having a change, need to wash that man out of your hair or simply ought to give yourself a well deserved treat after exam hell, I would fully recommend you head on down to Wigs and Warpaint…and hey afterwards why not pop into the funky ‘Each to Their Own’ boutique upstairs and indulge in new dress to go with that fabulous ‘do?
